Sheer Khurma – شِیر خُرْمَہ
“Sheer Khurma” is a very popular Eid special sweet dish but very few people know its real meaning and often call it “Sheer Qorma”

Is “Milk”
Khurma- خُرْمَہ
Are dried dates(Choharey)
So basically the real version consisted of dried dates simmered and cooked with milk and it was a tradition that people break their fast on Eid morning with it before going for an Eid Prayer.
Later vermicelli (Siwaiyan) and dry fruits were added to it and now even in some households the main ingredient Khurma(choharey) isn’t even added to Sheer Khurma.
Eid in Pakistan or other Muslim countries may be over but our Eid in Canada and other places where there aren’t proper Eid holidays, Eid goes weekend by weekend almost for a month.
Sharing the simplest Sheer Khurma Recipe in case you are planning an Eid Milan gathering or want to satisfy your Eid Taste buds
In 2 Kg milk, add 3 to 4 cardamoms, and 10 to 12 Dry dates( if you want to make a quicker version add regular dates)
Add 1 can of condensed milk(or sugar to taste)
Cook on lower flame, now fry dry fruits and 2 Cardamoms in 2 tab oil, add and fry vermicelli for a minute and add them to milk and cook on low flame till the desired consistency.
