Out of all Canadian cultural holidays, Thanksgiving is my favorite because of the soulful purpose behind the day and the message of gratitude it brings which is also nearest to our religion.
When long summer days come to end, leaves start changing the colors, wind starts to fly those beautiful colors all over, Slightly cold breeze brings the message from winter and the Sun feels shy to give its full warmth, It’s time for Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving comes in Canada on the second Monday of October to celebrate the harvest and other blessings of the past year, More significantly A celebration of being thankful for what one has and the bounty of the previous year. Kids have a day off on Fridays because of professional activity day so it turns into a pretty long weekend. Usually, this holiday is about getting together with family and friends and enjoy the feast which is traditionally a roasted Turkey for North Americans. We have a couple of close families here in Canada .We haven’t tried to cook Turkey yet but Every Thanksgiving we manage to have lunch or dinner together. This time we gathered at a local park for a BBQ (you can check my photography post🙂).At night we were invited to my friend’s place where our group met after a long time and had so much laugh with yummy dinner.
Today morning I had my eggs n bread breakfast made by my husband, I feel it like a rewarding treat after 5 days of serving breakfast, packing lunches at morning and cooking dinners for them. While sipping my tea comfortably I posted my photography on my blog, then had a call from my brother from Pakistan after a long time. At late afternoon we went to cast our vote and made it very peacefully as it was the last day of advance polling for Federal elections in Canada. After coming back we had a Leftover Biryani and enjoyed every bit of it then it was falooda’s turn that we brought while coming back home. I put my 3 yr old to bed for nap and laugh with him on his silly talks before sleep, Now planning to fold a laundry and little bit of clean up and dreaming about having a tea n dipping biscuits to it 😊, There are lot of reasons to be Thankful for ,we just need to think about it
