When most of the time we hear that nowadays there is so much focus on “Taleem” (Education) but not on “Tarbiyet” (Training), I thought this post could be beneficial for many people like me. Whenever there is some event happen at school related to my kids, I am always up to be there, not because I want to but because I am always under a constant momilicious fear of not to miss a single thing and make sure to make each and every moment a memory.
There was IRise STEAM fair in the last days of school
IRISE is a character-building program in which kids have to create a project using STEAM( Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) IRISE stands for:
· I: symbolizes personal connection to God and ownership of the values
· Rabbaniyah: God-consciousness, developing faith, and being God-centered. Whatever act we are doing, we are under observation.
· Integrity: Strong internally-driven moral principles and always having a good intention
· Service: Acting upon one’s responsibility with respect to all concentric circles: from individual to family to society to the world
· Excellence: Developing knowledge, skills and personal attributes to reach one’s full potential
Students created and presented a variety of projects in groups based on one value from IRISE using different STEAM techniques and softwares. Talking about the problem, causes, and solutions. My 4th grader’s group chose “Care for homeless,” and they also made sample care package to present. Honestly, there was so much learning for everyone in there, and I found it a combination of both “Taleem” (Education) and “Tarbiyet” (Training).I think these things shouldn’t be limited to schools. We as parents could always apply and enforce them by having a lot of thought-provoking conversations with our kids, Exchanging opinions, Involving our children in small social work projects, Making ourselves as an example by doing little acts of kindness together within our community and by encouraging our kids to use fundamental moral values in everyday life.
Summer vacations are here and kids are home, I think this is the best time to take advantage of,🌹Happy Parenting
