Imperfection behind the perfect pictures

At first glance, it looks like a perfect Mom and Toddler Picture right? but actually, it’s not. Last year the start of a winter break wasn’t very pleasant for us. Our whole family got sick and all plans were cancelled. Yahya got a very bad stomach flu and unable to hold anything, My bones and muscles were badly aching cause of his multiple bathroom trips and climbing stairs up and down & changing him frequently. Even on that night, I asked my neighbour if she had some ginger ale because I had no energy to go out and buy, Alhamdullilah she was generous enough. The virus slowly spread to my other kids and when it touched my husband It was time to give up all totkas & see the doctor. Usually, our doctor’s office isn’t very busy but because it was a Christmas Eve & many clinics were closed there was a very long waiting. So we were sitting there sick, hungry and tired for almost three hours waiting for our turn. Akmal was walking around bearing the pain. Yahya was kept asking me to have something to eat from the pharmacy behind but I didn’t want to take a risk in the clinic full of people with only one bathroom. I was continuously trying to distract him while thinking about other two kids I left at home & what should I cook after reaching back or should we take out some food which is of course, not a good idea in that condition and that was the time Yahya said: “Amma lets take photos from your phone” and here comes the perfect Mom and Toddler selfie.
So dear friends, social media photos are not the stories we think. They are not the reflection of a happy Lives. They are just a moment or glimpse out of the whole scene. They don’t tell you what a person is actually going through. They are actually our assumptions upon which we make our own judgements, comparisons, conclusions & happy and Sad zones.
So next time when you see a happy picture of someone on social media don’t think too much about it and don’t start comparing your life with them. Just smile, hit the like button and share a happy thought if you can else move on because People just need your little love, not negativity and judgement & Life is much more then just a social media picture 💕
